TOPEKA -- Three Salinans and a Wichita woman have been indicted by a federal grand jury on drug charges, according to a news release issued Thursday by U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren's office.
Oliver Bradwell, 44; Jennifer Padgette, 36; and Gary Jones, 55, all of Salina; and Misty Walker, Wichita, are charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. The crime is alleged to have occurred from October 2007 through March 5, in Saline County. In addition to the conspiracy charge:
n Jones is charged with seven counts of distributing crack cocaine and three counts of using a telephone in furtherance of drug trafficking.
n Bradwell is charged with three counts of using a telephone in furtherance of drug trafficking, four counts of distributing crack cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
n Padgett is charged with one count of distributing crack cocaine.
n Walker is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
The investigation was done by the Salina Police Department.
In another case, Steven Hunter Jr., 30, who is in the Shawnee County Jail, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crime is alleged to have occurred April 23 in Saline County.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.
