Fight for Charity set

MANHATTAN -- "Fight for Charity," a USA Boxing sanctioned event, will be Sept. 13 at the U.S. Army National Guard, 721 Levee in Manhattan.

Family activities start at 9 a.m. and bell time is 4 p.m. Activities include the U.S. Army National Guard rock climbing wall, a display of military vehicles and displays from the Riley County Police Department D.A.R.E. unit and Manhattan Fire Department. Professional fighter David "Strictly Business" Medina will sign autographs and will perform in an exhibition match.

About 25 teams from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma will compete. Team members from Kansas include four Fort Riley soldiers, two alumni of Kansas State University and five K-State students.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger; preschool children will be admitted free.

Proceeds will be donated to Autism meets Optimism, a foundation for children with autism.
